Growbar - The Bee Bar

Growbar – The Bee Bar

Grow beautiful bee friendly blooms to create a buzz in your garden.

These fragrant and beautiful blooms will bring bees buzzing into the garden. Hyssop, Catananche and Sweet rocket are irresistible to these beautiful and vital insects, and are rather attractive to humans, too.

This nifty Growbar makes a thoughtful gift or a fun family project. All you’ll need is a small container, some water and a warm, sunny spot on the windowsill. Within 6-8 weeks the seedlings will be ready to plant into the ground or into pots.

What is inside the box?

  • Compressed coir bar containing:
    • Hyssop Seeds
    • Catananche Seeds
    • Sweet Rocket Seeds
    • Full care instructions
    • Gift Card

Growbar is 100% eco-friendly. Coir is made with coconut fibres and is a sustainable alternative to peat. The recyclable film wrap is made from sugar cane.

Each Growbar is carefully handmade and beautifully packaged, chocolate bar-style, by a small team in South London.

Start by unwrapping your Growbar and place it with the brown protective paper facing upwards, into a container with plenty of space to allow it to expand. Gently pour half a litre of water into the tray and position indoors on a warm, bright sunny windowsill. The seeds will need to be a cosy 18°-22° to germinate.

Water regularly and ensure the Growbar is perfectly moist, it should remain the colour of a rich dark ginger cake.

After a few weeks you should have a bar neatly dotted with little seedlings. These will be happy growing together in the bar for a further month in their sunny location.

When the seedlings have produced 4-8 leaves you may then gently separate them, being careful to not damage the delicate roots, and plant them in individual pots or a sunny weed-free spot in the garden. Plants grown in the ground with plenty of space and sunlight will produce more abundant fragrant foliage but it is possible to grow the seedlings in large containers on the balcony or patio.

How to identify your seedlings:

  • Hyssop seedlings have small green oval shaped flat leaves.
  • Verbena bonariensis seedlings have slightly hairy, jagged-shaped leaves on pinkish stems.
  • Lavender seedlings are fragrant with long, silvery leaves.
